collective advocacy for marginalised groups

sharq.org trained and mentored a collective of 10 activists from across the Arabic speaking region in storytelling for grassroots advocacy. the initiative included the delivery of a series of virtual workshops and the co-development of an advocacy campaign.

participants were invited following an open call, and a toolkit produced to aid delivery of the workshops was enhanced through participant feedback. DOWNLOAD THE 20-PAGE TOOLKIT (EN|AR|FR) from the sharq.org library of publications and films.

ADVOCATING FOR WOMENS RIGHTS
the collective conceptualised and developed content for a campaign in support of gender parity, highlighting messaging related to women and education, work, war and peace:

the primary objectives of the initiative, which was supported by Minority Rights Group, were:

  • enhancing the capacity of rights groups to represent themselves and their marginalised beneficiaries and advocate publicly and strategically;
  • promoting an understanding of the value of grassroots activism that spotlights individual stories and engages communities;
  • promoting and facilitating collaborative efforts by different rights groups demanding more pluralistic systems of governance.
