sharq.org hosted a series of free to attend workshops in a variety of artistic disciplines in Larnaca in 2022 in a bid to bring together and celebrate the diverse cultures that coexist in the Cypriot seaside city. each workshop was hosted by an artist based in Cyprus, all of whom were commissioned following an open call.
workshops in film, music, sculpture, and painting were run by artists Cindy Chehab, Nama Dama, Christos Drakos and Alia Corm respectively. the creative results of these workshops were showcased during the Come Together festival in November 2022 alongside two performance pieces produced by clownist Mo Awwad and Yasemin Collective and that reflect on the themes of conflict, migration, identity and belonging.
the festival was free to attend and took place over two days, during which guests and passers by were invited to contribute to the creation of a mosaic artwork, led by Jax Pots, that reflected the diverse faiths and ethnicities of residents on the island.
