Professional and amateur actors, Syrians and non-Syrians, took part in staged readings of stories from the collection ‘Syrian Histories’ at three events in Beirut, Lebanon in 2017.

Mishkal Festival, Madina Theatre, September 2017
Six storytellers took the stage of the famous Madina Theatre on Hamra Street during the annual Mishkal festival to perform staged readings of six of the over 100 recorded stories that make up the ‘Syrian Histories’ collection.

Private performance, September 2017
Sharq.Org hosted a special Syrian night, complete with food, music and stories, for a group of cultural tourists visiting from Belgium. A series of animated performances was followed by a discussion on Syria and its people.

Global Week for Syria Festival, Dar El-Nimer, July 2017
A staged reading of stories at Dar El-Nimer as part of the Global Week for Syria festival marked the launch of the oral history collection ‘Syrian Histories’ produced by Sharq.Org and including over 100 recorded stories told by Syrians from diverse backgrounds. A vibrant discussion with experts in storytelling and oral histories followed.
