sharq.org is led by Reem Maghribi, who has since its inception in 2004 volunteered over 20,000 hours to the design and realisation of its portfolio of non-profit social impact initiatives.
several projects have been initiated and completed in collaboration with in-house teams and consultants fairly compensated using donor funds. our first donors were private citizens with a long history in social justice work. institutional donors financially supported many of the initiatives implemented in the decade+ that sharq.org was based in the eastern Mediterranean. they include Creative Commons, Arab Human Rights Fund, Swedish Institute, Konrad Adenauer Foundation, KAICIID, Minority Rights Group and UK FCO.
with a renewed focus on sustainability and integrity, our ongoing initiatives are supported by volunteers, revenues, and reciprocal partnerships.
if you like one of the ongoing initiatives we are currently running, you can apply to join a project implementing team as a volunteer, intern, or paid contributor.
if you would like to propose a co-creation with sharq.org, you can apply to join Collectiva Shamila or send us a project pitch.
if you want to get involved but don’t know exactly how, you can simply contact us to say hi over email or book in a quick chat with Reem during sharq.org surgery hours.
if you want to enquire about our work and credibility, you can contact our associates and collaborators, many of whom we’ve named below. be sure to send them our warmest regards.
